Public Art
In and out of Maranola, art can be public, meaning it can be enjoyed freely by anyone, in everyday places, outside the guarded walls of museums or galleries.
This for us is the basis of public art, but it is also something more: it is a project that is born from the encounter between the artist, the place and its inhabitants, it is never something imposed, self-referential and prefabricated, simply taken and placed on a square.
Public art for SEMINARIA is a complex work, drawing from the history and life of the place, embedded in it architecturally and socially, in an exchange of energy and knowledge.
Significant exchanges, such as the one that takes place with the community of Maranola, engaged together with Seminaria in the establishment of an open-air museum, formed by some of the festival’s works that by their nature or by popular will (as in the case of ‘Nferta) remain in the village.
And even outside the walls of our village, it happens that external patrons ask us to interpret “their” place through the sustainable approach of art. Thus was born the twinning with the historic festival of “September in the Village”, which for two years has given us the opportunity to realize very complex projects in the public space of the Casertavecchia pine forest.
