ANDREA AQUILANTI
Andrea Aquilanti was born in Rome in 1960. He lives and works in Rome.
Andrea Aquilanti’s artistic career is characterized by experimentation with different media associating, seamlessly, the practice of drawing and painting, through which he combines references and fascinations of the art of the past with contemporary suggestions and languages, sensitive to the interference and potential offered by technology. His poetic world is built of complex visions and layered planes of perception that investigate the dimension of reality and the lability of its ontological status in relation to the problems of representation.
Site-specific immersive installations, define the experiential and temporary character around which his research revolves. It was in 2019 that he created his first permanent public artwork in Viterbo, curated by the Accademia Nazionale di San Luca, as part of the “Art on the Paths” project promoted by the Lazio Region.
Awards include Terna Prize 02 (2009), won with the work Acqua, an installation with sound video projection (Palazzo Collicola).
